From 1970 to 1986, Mr. Weiss was employed with Eastern Airlines. During this period, he held information systems and telecommunications staff and managerial positions of increasing responsibility in both domestic and international arenas, culminating as Director of Telecommunications with responsibility for worldwide telecommunications services for Eastern.
From 1986 to 1990, Jim was Vice President of Telecommunications with System One Corporation, a leading information management and telecommunications services company providing worldwide services to the travel industry with responsibilities for worldwide communications. In this capacity, he managed a staff of over 300 professionals and controlled an annual budget in excess of $125 million.
From 1990 to 1991, Mr. Weiss served as Vice President of Planning and Business Development with System One. During this period, he developed a highly profitable enterprise within System One to resell long distance telephone service to travel agencies throughout the United States. Mr. Weiss was also responsible for telecommunications projects involving major revenue enhancements and cost reductions.
After leaving System One, Mr. Weiss spent two years with MCI Telecommunications, serving as Senior National Account Marketing Manager in Miami.
In addition to his consulting activities, Mr. Weiss is the founder and President of Network Brokers, Inc., a Florida corporation which has provided discounted long distance telephone services to small and medium-size businesses nationwide since early 1993.
Mr. Weiss has recently served on the Internal Audit (Supervisory) Committee of the Eastern Financial Federal Credit Union and worked closely with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Telecommunications Committee. Mr. Weiss has served on telecommunications advisory boards to both the University of Miami and Barry University in Miami. He was active for many years with the International Communications Association (ICA) and served on its Board of Directors beginning in May 1990, Chairman of the Technical Program Committee, member of the Education Committee and member of the Academic Development Committee. During the 1970s and 1980s, Mr. Weiss represented Eastern Airlines on various committees of the Air Transport Association, ATA, and the Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautique, SITA. He also served on the Board of Directors of the International Aeradio (Caribbean) Limited, IACL.
He received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Management from the University of Illinois, and holds a Master's in Business Administration from Florida International University in Miami.
